'Do This In My Name'

I don't believe the number of believers has changed

much since I was a kid in the 1950s.

I do believe that the number of people who feel

socially obligated to go to church has dropped

significantly.

With so few attendees today a good church is a busy

place.

The Anglican church I have started attending has a

free lunch for the hungry every Sunday. Parishioners

take turns cooking, serving and cleaning up.

The churches in the area all take turns providing free

breakfasts for the homeless every day of the year.

They collect food donations every week

and the group that I am going to join makes up

packages of ingredients that make a wholesome,

filling meal, (recipe included) for the local food bank.

No proselytizing, mo judging, no one is turned away.

They just get up early and do it.

I have my issues with the Christian church but this

isn't one of them.

  1. I like the idea of providing the ingredients and the recipe for a good meal (something like a casserole, I imagine). Must make a nice change from a typical food bank box of Kraft Dinner and peanut butter.

Francie, I'm updating my blogroll list and thought I'd ask you first if I can include your new blog on it. I don't know whether or how much publicity you want for it, whether you're keen for new readers or not. Let me know what is best.

    1. Thanks for the kind offer Debra but I'm not sure where i'm going with this one. I'm posting to twitter which seems like a safe place to venture because it won't garner much interest but that's all. I'm a closet blogger now I guess! :)
